우리나라 출신의 화가이자 조각가 유근상. 이탈리아 국립예술종합대학교 총장이다. 작가는 고교시절 독학으로 이탈리아어를 배운 후 이탈리아 피렌체 국립미술원에 수석 입학해 5년 내내 장학금을 받으며 창작활동을 했다. 1989년 유럽 최대 미술대전에 이탈리아 대표로 참가해 대상인 ‘에밀리오 그레코상’ 등을 받으며 인지도를 넓혀왔다. 이탈리아 정부는 그에게 문화재이자 700년 역사를 가진 체르토자 수도원에 평생 사용할 수 있는 개인 작업실도 제공했다. 그의 조각 작품은- 텟세라(모자이크를 만드는데 쓰이는 작은 조각) 유리와 비잔틴 양식의 유리들을 조합한 조형물이 많고, 회화작품은 80호에서 200호에 이르는 대형 작품들이 많다. 동양인으로 그곳의 풍경 역사를 추상적인 색감으로 표현했다. 주요경력 홍익대학교 미술대..
