Debating alternative histories of Modernism and how they have shaped contemporary artistic practice in the Arab world, this major event unpacks definitions of ‘Arab art’, considering its diasporic and multiple identities.
Marking the culmination of a four part series of exhibitions drawn from the Barjeel Art Foundation Collection based in Sharjah, UAE, the conference is convened by Barjeel Art Foundation founder Sultan Al Qassemi and curator Omar Kholeif. Speakers include collector Ramzi Dalloul, curator Reem Fadda and writer Kaelen Wilson-Goldie.
